Dr. Sonia is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Mental Health Counselor, and Nationally Certified Counselor in Virginia, as well as the District of Columbia, North Carolina, Florida, and Texas.
Sonia provides therapy for people struggling with depression, stress, grief, “life’s problems”, and relationships. In addition, her sub-specialty is weight management (e.g. obesity, overweight, emotional eating, and weight loss surgery psychological evaluation and post surgical adjustment problems).
She has over 30 years of professional experience working with the overweight/obese client (children, adolescents, medically obese, and adults). Sonia has a Doctorate in Counseling Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Exercise Physiology. Sonia is an Associate Member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. She utilizes a multi-dimensional approach when working with clients.
